Who qualifies
Four things decide it. Most families already know the answers.
The member, the care they need, and who gives it. Tap a relationship below to see who can be the paid caregiver.
-
The member has MassHealth
An adult, 16 or older, with active MassHealth coverage. Not sure about the coverage? We can help you check.
-
They need daily hands on help
With personal care such as bathing, dressing, eating, using the bathroom, moving safely, or taking medications.
-
The caregiver lives with them
In the same home, in Massachusetts, giving the daily care themselves.
-
The caregiver is not their spouse
A spouse, or a parent of a member under 18, cannot be paid. An adult child, another relative or a friend can.

Choose a relationship above
Most people who already give daily care at home can qualify, as long as they live with the member and are not their spouse.
