How it works
From the first call to the first stipend, we carry the paperwork.
Four steps, then a clinical team that keeps showing up. There is no cost to the family for any of it.
Four steps
What happens, in order.
-
01 · Eligibility
We confirm you qualify
The member has active MassHealth and needs daily help with personal care. The caregiver lives with them and is not their spouse. We walk through it with you on the phone, then a registered nurse confirms it in a home assessment and we file the MassHealth paperwork.
-
02 · Training
We train the caregiver
CPR, first aid, the member's own care plan, and dementia training where it applies. The training is free, it fits around the care you already give, and you will not be doing this alone.
-
03 · Clinical support
The clinical team visits every month
A registered nurse and a care manager take turns visiting the home, so someone from the team is with you every month. They review the care plan, check on the member, and ask how you are doing too. We keep the MassHealth documentation current so you never have to.
-
04 · The stipend
The caregiver is paid, tax free
A stipend goes to the caregiver every month, up to $1,730, tax free under IRS Notice 2014-7 when the caregiver lives with the member. There is no charge to the family for any of this.
The clinical team
Someone from our team, every single month.
A registered nurse and a care manager share the visits. They check on the member, update the care plan, and make sure the caregiver has what they need. This is what a year looks like.
The nurse and the care manager take turns, every other month each: six visits each a year, and a visit from the team every month. Visits follow MassHealth regulation 130 CMR 408.000.
