If you live with and care for an adult on MassHealth, Adult Foster Care can pay you up to $1,730 a month, tax free. M&L Prodigy Healthcare handles eligibility, caregiver training, and the monthly nurse and social worker visits.
Governed by MassHealth regulation 130 CMR 408.000. The member must have active MassHealth coverage. A spouse cannot be the paid caregiver.

It is a MassHealth program for adults who need daily help with personal care and would rather stay at home than move to a nursing facility. A family member or friend who lives with them gives that care and is paid a monthly stipend for it. An agency like ours trains the caregiver, sends a nurse and a care manager to the home, and handles the MassHealth paperwork.

No. MassHealth does not allow a spouse, or a parent of a member under 18, to be paid under Adult Foster Care. An adult child, another relative, or a friend who lives with the member can be.
Yes. The caregiver and the member live in the same home. That is also what makes the stipend tax free.
A registered nurse visits every other month and a care manager visits in the months between: six nurse visits and six care manager visits a year, so someone from the team is in the home every month. Between visits, the clinical team is on call around the clock.
No. Adult Foster Care is funded by MassHealth. We do not charge families for eligibility checks, training, visits, or anything else.
Call us anyway. Many people are covered through a plan such as One Care or Senior Care Options without realizing it counts. We will help you find out, and tell you what to do if they are not covered yet.
It depends mostly on MassHealth. We schedule the nurse assessment quickly, file the paperwork for you, and tell you where things stand at every step, so you are never left wondering.
